This group was interested in forming a "federation of neighborhood associations." From this meeting the Coalition of Neighborhoods was born. In 1976 the Coalition established the Neighborhood Development and Conservation Center with the purpose of conducting research on neighborhood issues, providing neighborhoods with information and referral services, conducting home repair workshops and serving as a tool loan center for small architectural projects. The NDCC was incorporated on June 16, 1976, and has continued and expanded its work under two subsequent names: Neighborhood Alliance of OKC and Neighborhood Alliance, Inc. Since its inception Neighborhood Alliance, Inc. has been a grassroots organization dedicated to helping neighborhoods develop and sustain the resources they need not only to survive, but to thrive. |
